Leonardo da Vinci was a very intellectual man who had a sparking curiosity in the history about people and life. He contributed so much to the field of physiology. It is believed that almost all of his paintings are based on the anatomical structure behind it. Da Vinci was interested in studying the formation of living things. He is fascinated by the human anatomy. â€Å"Leonardo learned anatomy initially from the old Greeks and Romans. Leonardo immersed himself in human post-mortem examinations. He critically examined 30 human corpses at a time when nobody was performing these examinations. He went from fetuses to babyhood to old age. Anatomy took a large part in the three years it took to create and perfect Mona Lisa’s smile. Da Vinci spent hours in the morgue studying many cadavers and pulling off their skin to revel the muscles around the mouth. He was intrigued to know how a smile forms, but was more astonished and curious about the relationship between the brain and the nervous system. He experienced difficulties for the lips are small and the nerves go deep into the body. He kept a journal with sketches he made of his observations. One drawing included the dissection of two arms and hands; he then placed them next to different face profiles.
